Did You Know?

High blood pressure increases your risk of heart disease, stroke and congestive heart failure. Black women develop high blood pressure earlier in life and have higher average blood pressures compared with white women.

Family Medicine Office at Tower Pointe

The original members of the group were Dr. William G. Roche and Dr. Oliver Willard. Dr. Roche opened his practice in Greenwood in 1967. He and Dr. Willard opened their office on Edgefield Street in 1977. They they opened a new and larger office and became Professional Park Family Practice shortly after Dr. Murphy joined the practice in 1988. Dr. Todd Gallman joined the group in 1994.

Professional Park Family Practice merged with Piedmont Family Medicine in May 1996 and incorporated to become Piedmont Health Group. The medical field today is dominated by large corporations and there is an ever growing body of medical information that physicians must keep up with. We have found that our larger practice is better suited to meeting the health care needs of our patients.  In 2006 Piedmont Health Group began work on a new medical center where we could offer our patients a broad array of medical services within our own practice.

On October 1, 2007, the Professional Park Office moved into their new offices located in the Tower Pointe Medical Center at 105 Vine Crest Court.  This is at 1020 Alexander Road West, just off the By-Pass 225, and behind the Shell gas station which is at the corner of Alexander and the By-Pass.

Other Piedmont Health Group services located in Tower Pointe Medical Center include our Neurology Office (Dr. Wayne Sida and Dr. Bret Warner), Occupational Health Services, Counseling Services, and Corporate Services (our administrative offices).  In addition, the Diagnostic and Imaging Center now offers diagnostic services including CT, ultrasound, vascular studies, nuclear medicine, digital x-ray, EEG/SSEP, and EMG/Nerve conduction studies.   Finally, The Center for Sleep Disorders now has six beds for conducting sleep studies and other studies for various sleep related disorders.  The Center is accredited by the American Society of Sleep Medicine.  Our MRI scanner will temporarily remain at our Niney Six location.  It will move to Tower Pointe later this year.

Tower Pointe is also home to other practices and services in addition to Piedmont Health Group.  Premier Surgical Associates (Dr. Ed Rapp and Dr. Kevin Carson), Greenwood Physical Therrapy (physical therapy services), Health Related Medical Equipment (a respiratory therapy and durable medical products provider), and Quest Diagnostics (laboratory services) are all located in the building.  There is also a Community Room, which is available for use by companies, churches, civic organizations.
